This body of work has been informed by my fascination with found materials and the histories held within these objects. The unknown ways in which different materials can coexist and fuse together fascinates me and is something I find myself observing in my day to day. I’m attracted to the mixture of broken down, and manipulated objects that are often found along the side of the road, and in junk piles. I find myself asking “How did that happen?” My appreciation for the materials I have at my disposal has been deepened by working with printmakers for a period of 3-4 years. I admire traditional practices and the longing for a clean, well controlled result, but my own method of creation embraces mistakes, messiness, and experimentation. My work makes use of found objects, detritus, and materials that are commonly overlooked. The raw nature of these objects inspires me to create. In continuing my question of traditional methods I concentrated not only on the paintings, prints, and sculptures but also on an environment to display these pieces, i wanted to do this in a way that invited the public to engage with the artwork. Getting work outside of a gallery space and making it accessible to everyone. This is documentation of a pop up show that I installed in Boone, NC on November 16th 2017. The work was displayed in the back of a moving truck parked outside of a local business. The shift in the way that the artwork was viewed allowed the space to function in a familiar but unfamiliar manner that straddled a line between illusion & enchantment.
